February 16, 2026 0 By infynza.com

Our beloved Kedarnath Baba temple will reopen for the 2026 Yatra season on April 22, 2026, inviting devotees to once again seek the divine blessings of Baba.

This is the perfect time to start planning from now not just booking tickets, but preparing mentally and physically to witness the divine darshan of Kedarnath Baba in the majestic Himalayas. The journey is not just travel; it is devotion, endurance, and spiritual experience combined.

Kedarnath is one of India’s holiest pilgrimages — and the journey there is as divine as the destination. From Hyderabad, there are multiple ways to reach Kedarnath, each with its own experience, costs, and time commitments. Let’s explore them in detail so you get the perfect travel plan and experience this yatra peacefully without rush.

How Many Ways Are There to Reach Kedarnath from Hyderabad?

From Hyderabad, you can reach Kedarnath in 3 main practical ways:

1️⃣ ✈️ By Flight
2️⃣ 🚆 By Train
3️⃣ 🚁 Helicopter (from nearby helipads)

(No direct road trip suggestion because it’s very long and risky unless you are an adventure freak.)

Let’s break down each route clearly.

1. Hyderabad to Kedarnath by Flight (Fastest & Comfortable)

➤ Step 1: Hyderabad → Dehradun

  • Fly from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (DED)
  • Travel time: 2.5–3 hours
  • Approx cost: ₹4,000 – ₹8,000

🔗 Book Flights:

Step 2: Dehradun → Sitapur (Road Journey)

  • Distance: ~240–250 km
  • Travel time: 8–10 hours
  • Route: Dehradun → Rishikesh → Rudraprayag → Guptkashi → Sitapur

Options:

  • Private taxi
  • Shared jeep
  • Government bus

💡 Pro Tip: Stay in Sitapur.
It is just 5 km before Gaurikund and has better hotel availability. This helps you start trekking early the next morning without stress and reach Gaurikund comfortably.

2. Hyderabad to Kedarnath by Train (Budget + Practical Route)

Instead of searching direct Haridwar trains only, here is a practical plan.

➤ Step 1: Hyderabad → Delhi

You can take a train from Hyderabad to Delhi.

💡 My strong suggestion:
Go with Telangana Express (morning departure from Hyderabad). It is reliable and convenient.

Other trains are also available — check availability and choose according to your comfort.

🔗 Book train tickets:

Step 2: Delhi → Rishikesh / Haridwar

From Delhi:

Option 1:

  • Take train to Rishikesh (check timings and availability)

Option 2:

  • Take bus from Delhi to Haridwar
  • Many Volvo and government buses available

Step 3: Haridwar / Rishikesh → Sitapur

From Haridwar or Rishikesh:

  • Government buses
  • Shared jeeps
  • Private taxis

You can also hire a personal vehicle from Delhi to Sitapur and return back to Delhi if traveling with family or group. This gives flexibility and comfort.

Sitapur → Gaurikund → Kedarnath Trek

Distance from Gaurikund to Kedarnath: 16–18 km
Minimum trekking time: 8–10 hours

👉 Very Important:

Start trekking before 8:00 AM from Gaurikund.
That means leave your Sitapur hotel by 6:30–7:00 AM.

Why early?

✔️ Weather changes anytime in mountains
✔️ Less crowd
✔️ Reach Kedarnath by evening
✔️ Get proper time to rest

Stay One Night in Kedarnath (Don’t Rush Back)

When you reach Kedarnath:

1️⃣ Take rest
2️⃣ Attend Night Aarti
3️⃣ Wake up early (4–5 AM)
4️⃣ Have peaceful morning darshan
5️⃣ Witness beautiful Himalayas in sunrise light

This experience is completely different from a rushed same-day return.

Please stay one night. You will thank yourself later.

Always Keep 1–2 Reserve Days

This is extremely important.

Weather in Kedarnath region can change suddenly:

If you keep buffer days:
✔️ You stay peaceful

Rishikesh (On Return Recommended Stay)

On your return journey, stay in Rishikesh at least one night.

Don’t miss:

✔️ Evening Ganga Aarti
✔️ Devotional bhajans
✔️ Spiritual atmosphere
✔️ You can even dance during bhajans

Optional (if you like adventure):

  • River rafting
  • Bungee jumping

You can balance spirituality + adventure beautifully here.

3. Helicopter Option (If You Want to Avoid Trek)

Helicopter services operate from:

  • Phata
  • Guptkashi
  • Sirsi

Cost: ₹4,000 – ₹7,000 approx (one way)
